Limited edition prints

37 images available . Collector prints produced on acid free paper using a full color lithograph press. Limited Edition Prints will increase in value over time – once the entire edition is sold out.

These collector prints include the regular Signed and Numbered (S/N) prints, Artist Proof (A/P) prints, Environmental Prints (ENV), and Save the Light Prints (STL). Jim’s edition size has varied over the years from 450 prints to 2000 prints.

Signed & numbered print (s/n)

This is the main edition of prints.

In the image the prints will be signed and dated. The signature & date in the image are painted on the original and copied to every print AND poster. The important information is in the 1" of white margin under the image.

On the left in PENCIL is the number (ex 550/2000), in the center printed in black ink is the “title" & “by Jim Booth", and on the right in PENCIL is Jim’s hand signature. There are a few of the older smaller prints where Jim signed & numbered the prints in the image. These include: Basket Weaver, Daddy’s Girl, Island Light, Marsh Creek, Morris Light, Pink House, Sunrise Surf, & Sunset Marsh.

If the white margin is matted over you likely have a poster. Since the image of both the prints & poster are identical you will have to unframe the picture and look at the white margin to know which you own. On rare occasions we have had customers bring in Signed & Numbered Prints that had all the white margin matted over!

Artist proof print (a/p)

Artist Proofs are the same as Signed & Numbered Prints except for the edition size is smaller & directly to the right of the number will be an embossed stamp that says “ARTIST PROOF". A/Ps are valued at 1 1/2 times that of a S/N print. If a S/N print is listed at $1000 the A/Ps insurance value is $1500

Environmental edition print (env)

ENVs are a special edition that are not for retail sale. Jim donates this entire edition to various non-profit organizations for auctions, raffles, etc. These prints have an embossed gold seal in the image of the picture. The ENVs are more valuable than the prints in any of the other editions since there are fewer of them & they can not be purchased on a daily basis. ENVs are the same as S/N Prints except the edition size is smaller & there will be an embossed gold seal that says “Jim Booth, Environment, Artist". ENVs are valued at 1 1/2 times that of a S/N print. If a S/N print is listed at $1000 the ENV's insurance value is $1500

Save the light edition prints (stl)

STL’s are a special edition that are only available through the Save the Light Organization. These prints have the Save the Light logo printed in the white margin of the print. STL’s are valued at 1 1/2 times that of a S/N print. If a S/N print is listed at $1000 the STL's insurance value is $1500

Canvas Prints

As of Jim’s retirement in May 2018 canvas prints are no longer being produced. The information below is accurate for the canvas prints we once offered.

Our canvas prints were printed on the same canvas that Jim used to paint which makes them very realistic when compared to his original paintings. The entire edition is first numbered to paper.  When a canvas was requested Jim would tear up a paper print & sign that number to canvas – this way even after the entire edition is sold out a customer was able to upgrade to canvas. Jim did not create new/more numbers for canvas prints or sell them un-numbered…the canvas prints were part of the original Limited Edition both S/N and A/P.

Classic Edition Posters

23 images available. Classic Edition posters are produced for the more popular images after all the Limited Edition Prints sell out (only exception is Running The Wind which has both available at once). These posters are printed on the same quality paper & on a lithograph press as the Limited Edition Prints. Since these posters are unlimited they do not increase in value.

Note: As of Jim’s retirement in May 2018 our Classic Edition Posters are no longer hand-signed.  Prior to Jim’s retirement, all Classic Edition Posters sold at his personal gallery were hand-signed in black ink.

In the image the prints will be signed and dated. The signature & date in the image Jim paints on the original painting and it is copied to every Limited Edition Print and Classic Edition Poster. ALL the important information is in the 1" of white margin under the image

Jim's hand signature

Printed on the left in black ink is “Classic Edition", in the center printed in black ink is the “title", and printed on the right in black ink is “By Jim Booth". Jim's hand signature, always in black ink, may or may not be next to the printed “by Jim Booth."

White margin

If the white margin is matted over you likely have a Classic Edition Poster not a Limited Edition Print. Since the image of both the prints & poster are identical you will have to unframe the picture and look at the white margin to know which you own. On rare occasions we have had customers bring in Limited Edition Prints that had all the white margin matted over!!

Title & Jim Booth

The large size Classic Edition Posters will have poster style writing that includes the “Title" & “Jim Booth" (Top). Once Framed & Matted they look just like the image on the bottom (still shows the title, Classic Edition, & by Jim Booth)

Note** “The Storm", “Storm Warnings", & “Atlantic House" had early poster print runs that did not have the words “Classic Edition" and/or the title printed in the white margin. Some also had a faux marble border printed on the poster's paper. The later runs match the poster descriptions given above.

Mini Cards

62 Images available. Mini Cards are produced for most images. They started out as the actual “brochure” Jim would mail out announcing a new print.

After customers repeatedly asked to frame these brochures, Jim started producing them as “Mini Cards” more fitting to frame and hang on the wall! These Mini Cards are printed on the same quality paper & on a lithograph press as the Limited Edition Prints.

Since these Mini Cards are unlimited they do not increase in value. Many customers frame them individually or grouped in sets based on color and/or theme.
